$34,000 Foundation Grant for Inclusion
Did you know that in addition to helping some of the largest and most impactful public research institutions in the country, Aaron also loves to help emerging non-profits? With Aaron’s expertise, experience and insights, All Wheels Up (AWP) – a non-profit organization that works to make the airline industry more inclusive of travelers of all abilities – won their first substantial grant. With this $34,000 award from the Craig H. Neilsen Foundation, AWP will expand a pilot program to: (1) Provide equipment for flyers with physical disabilities, enabling them to be safely and comfortably restrained in their seats during air travel, and should evacuation be necessary, to safety disembark. Stunningly, the airline industry does very little to ensure that wheelchair users can travel in safety and comfort – just like everyone else – and AWP is working hard to achieve a paradigm shift. (2) They will also be leveraging deep industry and governmental relationships, which they have cultivated over years, to lobby for policy changes (via the FAA) to institutionalize these important improvements. Congratulations to Michele and AWP – can’t wait to see what you accomplish in the coming years.
