$3,010,000 to Fight Childhood Asthma (NIH)

A principal investigator at the Icahn Mount Sinai School of Medicine reached out to Aaron to assist her team in winning a NIH grant (NIAID RFA-AI-19-073) to establish a Clinical Research Network Center to study and test interventions related to childhood asthma in urban settings. The award (based on submitted budget) is $430,000 per year for seven years.

Aaron played an instrumental/ lead role, synthesizing technical content from multiple contributors, editing and writing new content, structuring the proposal and ensuring the application was complete and the narrative was both cogent and compelling. The Center will conduct innovative research including (but not limited to): investigating the influence of concurrent AD on asthma control in urban children, and the association between L-Arginine/Asymmetric Dimethyl Arginine and asthma morbidity in obese urban adolescents with asthma. The intention is that these and other research projects led by the center will provide novel information on mechanisms that could drive a future treatment with a more precise benefit in at-risk children with asthma and AD in an urban setting.
