The federal government posts thousands of grant opportunities each year. To conduct your own research, visit www.grants.gov. There, you can search by funding number, agency or type of grant. Below is a list of the most recent RFPs. This list is updated daily.

[acc_item title=”I just formed my nonprofit, am I eligible to receive grants?”]You may be eligible, but in most cases foundations are reluctant to fund newly-formed organizations, or organizations that may have been established but do not yet have a track record of success.[/acc_item]
[acc_item title=”I want to start a small business – are there grants out there I may qualify for?”]Probably not. Most grants originate from foundations and government agencies for the purpose of generating significant benefits to the public. There are a small number of foundations that will provide funding to businesses if they are providing a public service, but this is not common. If you want to start a for profit business you are probably going to have to look for funding through a commercial or SBA loan or private investors.[/acc_item]
[acc_item title=”What type of programs are eligible for government grants?”]There are thousands of RFPs for government grants issued every year from many federal agencies such as the Dept. of Education, the EPA, USDA, Dept. of Energy and more. Federal grants typically allow for profit businesses or nonprofit organizations apply as long as they can deliver the desired results. Check www.grants.gov to research.[/acc_item]
[acc_item title=”My nonprofit just got its 501(c)(3) status, can you help me obtain funding”]Maybe. As long as your organization has 501(c)(3) status you will be eligible for most grants (of course you have to meet the funding criteria). However it is very difficult to get funding as a startup. There are some, but not many, foundations that are willing to take a chance on a startup. Typically you need about a year of experience under your belt, as an organization, before you have a good shot at winning grant funding. After a 5-10 minute call I can assess whether you have a chance to be competitive.[/acc_item]
[acc_item title=”Can you help me get a grant to go to school, buy a house, etc?”]No. I don’t work with individuals, only nonprofits and in some cases, businesses.[/acc_item]
[acc_item title=”Can you help me identify funding sources?”]Yes. I offer a research/ feasibility package. If you have not yet identified good prospects it is essential that you do this first. You don’t want to spend lots of $ having me or someone else write you a grant only to realize there is no funder that is will consider it. As part of my prospecting I look through an extensive database of funders whose funding priorities align with your group’s mission, then call them each personally to better ascertain whether there is a good fit.[/acc_item]
[acc_item title=”How long does it take to get grant funding?”]Development needs to be viewed as a long-term investment. Very rarely does an organization write a single grant and receive immediate funding. It will generally take 6-9 months from the time you start submitting grant proposals until the funding pipeline starts flowing. You will not receive every grant you apply for so organization’s usually need a broad-based approach — applying to many foundations/ government agencies. It often takes 1-3 months before the foundation reviews the proposal and gets back to you with an answer. Some grantmakers accept proposals on a rolling basis, but most have 2-4 deadlines per year..[/acc_item]

Website Design & Content ($350-$800)
Having a well designed website with descriptive and up to date content is a crucial aspect of the development process. The minute you start reaching out to the community and to funders, your message across all mediums needs to be focused, consistent, compelling and crystal clear. If I contact a potential funder on your behalf, that first impression is very important! I need to be able to clearly articulate what you are all about and if the funder is even slightly interested, the next thing he/ she will do is go to the website. If the message on the website is inconsistent, vague, or ambiguous, you essentially are wasting that lead. I will write the content and also recommend formatting changes or new elements to strengthen the site. If can also setup your website, if required. I am not a graphic designer, but have about 5 years of experience designing and setting up WordPress blogs, which look just like any other website but offer a high degree of customization and are quite simple to manage. $350 is the minimum charge for setting up the site. I charge $250-$400 to write the content for the site, depending on the amount of content I need to create. Here are a few recent websites I designed and wrote content for:
For his site I wrote content only:

We provide the following grant writing and planning services.
Grant Research Training
We teach you to identify both state and foundation funding sources using the same methods, tools and process which we use and follow. The hands-on training (via teleconference) lasts approximately 60-90 minutes. This is not a theoretical exercise. We will use proven methods during the training to start the search process and begin to identify funding prospects and strategies.
Foundation & Government-Grant Research
It is very important to know your audience before writing anything. And finding the right audience is critical. We will conduct a comprehensive assessment of the funding landscape as it pertains to your organization; upon completion of you will receive a written report summarizing the findings and recommendations, as well as a debrief by phone. The report will include a ranked list of prospective funders, a grants calendar, a description of each prospect and a list of proposal requirements. From the initial interview to delivery of the final report is usually 2-4 days. Fee is dependent on the scope of the research.
Grant Proposals
After taking the time to learn about our organization and your program, we will write you a competitive grant proposal, customized to the grant-maker’s interests. Most foundation proposals are simple and can be completed in a matter of days, while government proposals typically require extensive planning, research and coordination among various stakeholders. Aaron has the experience to serve in a number of capacities, whether you need a consultant to manage the process from start to finish or fill an adjunct role as a editor/ content creator.
Letter of Inquiry
Most foundations will require a 2-page letter of inquiry prior to submitting a full proposal.
Fundraising/ Annual Appeal Letter
This 1-2 page letter is designed to appeal to individual donors whom an organization may reach out as part of a special (one-time) or annual appeal.
